Finlay Napier: The caravan is very clean and comfortable. Campsite Paradiso's location is fantastic. A 10 minute cycle through the forest (15 minute drive around the wood) to the nearest public beach and a 15 minute cycle from the centre of Viareggio... and the floating fish and chip shops. The staff on the campsite are excellent... They were friendly and really helpful. We hired bikes, one with a kids bike seat, from the store which was cheaper than hiring in town. The food in the restaurant was very high quality and reasonably priced. It was great hanging out in the bar for a nightcap chatting to the staff and watching the kids playing in the courtyard. The woods were great for cycling, running and walking... they're also nice and cool in the middle of the day. We booked Jan's place for three reasons. 1) Outdoor Pool 2) Playpark 3) Sitting on the deck at night... Unfortunately when we visited (in early May 2018) the pool was shut, the play park and trampolines were closed for renovation and, because of a rain storm the week before, there was an unprecedented mosquito hatching ... so no sitting outside either. That was disappointing however it would not put us off returning to the campsite as we could see how good it could be in season and without the terrible mosquitos. We completely understand that we were early in the season as the Bagno's were still being assembled and the seafront and promenade smelled of fresh paint. In fact we were Bagno Mauritzio's first customers of 2018. We had a couple of minor electrical problems. The site staff sorted them in 10 minutes. We didn't realise that running ANY two heating appliances (ie Coffee maker and water heater) simultaneously would trip the master power switch. Jan does explain in the pre-checkin email that using the air con and water heater cases this to happen. We highly recommend: *Hiring bikes from the campsite shop and cycling round Viareggio. The park, the posh boats in the harbour and along the promenade. *Bagno Maurizio- family friendly Bagno in the centre of Viareggio *The Fritto Misto from floating fish and chip shops- La Barchina *Gelateria Mirella for ice cream *A day trip to Lucca. Cycle round the city walls and through the narrow streets. We parked in Parcheggio Carducci, walked through the tunnel under Sortia di San Paolino and hired bikes from Chrono.
Even geduld...
